The EJ's Voyage

Today we have good and bad news. Where shall I
start?
Well, the good news is that we found the wind at
about 17:00 yesterday and finally could switch off the engine and sail all
through the night. We reduced sails for safety and comfort at night. All was
good.
This morning, the sun came up at last. No more
heavy clouds nor rain. We were flying along at 7.5kts until Mike went in the
foreword cabin and discovered salt water in our starboard cupboard and wardrobe
which never happened before. The port side lockers were usually the wet
ones
The only thing we could do was strip the cabin
totally, including bulkheads to locate the leak. In order to do so we had to
alter course so that we don't crash into the waves and take water on
deck.
The whole content of the cabin is now on deck, left
there to dry.
Our poor Captain Mike has been working hard for
hours now on this job. He has located the leak. It comes from the staysail
fitting on deck. He therefore had to take the staysail off as well!
Luckily, Holger is good help to him.
There are still doing the repair job as I write.
Let's hope that all will have a good ending and that we can get back on course
soon.
But we are all safe and so far in no
danger.
Never a dull moment!!!
More news tomorrow.
Love
Mike and Cat
