8 November 2009 Canaveral
The EJ's Voyage

Well, on the one side we are very glad we made it
up to here but on the other side we are a bit trapped as the effect of hurricane
Ida is affecting us greatly with high winds and tempestuous seas. According to
weather forecasters this will last - and increase! - until Thursday. It is a bit
frustrating as we are so close to our final destination but there is no way we
want to risk ourselves nor the boat by going out on the ocean in these
weather conditions.
Marina fees here in Canaveral are high but Mike
being clever and smart as always has managed to negotiate a reasonable rate for
the next four days. The only snag is that we should move berth and that is
impossible right now as it is blowing hard.
We can't go through the intercoastal canal because
our mast is too high to pass under the 4 bridges. So we are even
considering having the mast taken down so we can go to Ft Lauderdale through the
intercoastal canal. A bit drastic but ...we haven't had the mast out for 4 years
so it could be a possibility if the crane here is big enough .Will find out on
Monday (tomorrow) when the yard is back in action.
So main thing is that we are safe, it is still
sunny right now although that is likely to change tomorrow and it is hot.Not so
bad after all!
Will keep you updated tomorrow.
Love
Catherine and Mike
