First 24 hrs at sea. Covered 159nm. We had to motor sail and then motor a
good part of the night due to lack of wind but by 04:00 the wind had picked up
and we are having a cracking sail since averaging 7kts.
Quite a lot of dolphins came to play yesterday when we left Noumea and we
took it as their farewell message! At about 17:00 we saw a very bright light low
on the horizon. Next thing we heard a hell of a noise and a plane from the
French Affaires Maritimes passed over us at extremely low altitude. Very
impressive. They did this at least 6 times but called us on the VHF to tell us
not to be afraid, that they were on training mission. Same thing happened this
morning but this time it was a jet from the French Navy. At least the
French know where we are and we are not lost in the middle of the South Pacific!
The boys have got the fishing rod out but are so far unsuccessful. Good thing
that I pre-cooked all the meals!!!
All good so far |
