Neville and Janet arrived last night and we are on
our way to Cape Cod Canal and then Nantucket. Unfortunately no wind at all but
calm sea so are running on the engine. Very pleasant though.
After leaving York Harbor we went to Gloucester
where there was a Schooner festival over the weekend (Labor day weekend here in
the USA so businesses were shut on Monday). We anchored in the bay opposite
the beach and it was very nice. Had a delicious lobster dinner on board
again.
Mike spotted ARVOR on the dock which he knew from
ages ago as Alex had dealings with it at the time. So he went onboard, met the
owner who was delighted about the visit and he lent us his car for the afternoon
which was super. That's one of the great things about cruising. You meet some
wonderful, kind, generous and interesting people. We drove round Cape Ann,
saw Rockport and had lunch by the water. Really beautiful. We then went to the
supermarket and stocked the boat taking advantage of the car. Saturday night was
fireworks night and we had a prime position to admire it from our anchorage
spot.
Sunday we gently motored (again!), no wind, to
Marblehead and caught up with Lynn Jachney at the Eastern Yacht club. It was
so lovely to see her again. We hope that we will find a way to meet up
again whilst we are still in the USA.
Monday we went to Winthrop, Boston, where our new
friends Kathleen and Robert keep their boat. Great to see them. We moored
alongside the Transient dock, had a few drinks on the aft deck and met quite a
few people from the Yacht Club as FALBALA seemed to draw a lot of
attention!
Had a Take Away dinner on board with our friends
and Fifi, then more drinks with the Dockmaster and his wife. Janet and Neville
arrived from Brighton via New York at about 10.30PM. As they were exhausted
after their Atlantic flight and long journey we all went to bed fairly soon
after.
Left the dock before 8AM this morning. Not sure
where we will anchor tonight, possibly at Pocassett.
