In contrast to yesterday, we awoke to a simply stunning day this morning. They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so here you are………………………….

After a light breakfast we took ourselves off for a long walk, to enjoy the early morning peace and tranquillity. This was quite a hike and involved trekking over sand dunes, and some quite rugged ground. However we were handsomely rewarded. Not only was the bird life just buzzing, with Little Turns, Artic Turns, Swallows, Sandlings and a smattering of Gulls of various types. But also a Kentish Plover. Never seen one of these before, but they are similar to Golden Plovers, but tend to be slightly less colourful, with a more “pert” tail and wonderful bird song. Needless to say, as soon as the camera appeared, they disappeared.

What was much easier to capture on firm were the spectacular wild Orchids. These are the size of Daffodils. Just exquisite, with soft white trumpets.

It was hard to believe that the boat was moored so near to such a stunning wild place that is only 3km from a major tourist centre.

After a walk of some 7 or 8 km, we decided a good slap up lunch was needed.

The crew found a harbour side restaurant that specialised in Monkfish Kebabs. We were expecting a feast, but nothing could have prepared us for the stylish manner in which the meal arrived.

These were even better than they look. Naturally these had to be washed down with a fine bottle of Planalto DWW.

Back at the boat now for a bit of R & R after our arduous day………………………………………………….
