Noss on Dart Marina

After two miserable wet and grey days in the beautiful River Yealm, we headed out for Dartmouth at 0900 this morning.

Much to our surprise the day turned out to be dry, and we had good Westerly and North Westerly winds to give us gentle down wind sail towards our home port.

As we rounded Start Point we were confronted by a magnificent scene. Several hundred yachts of all shapes, sizes and colours, all racing around the cans. This made navigation into the river Dart something of a challenge. But it was a most welcome sight. Once in the river there were two very large Naval ships moored in mid channel and the whole river was buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the Royal Regatta. which started today.

Once at the marina, there were smiling friendly faces to welcome us in and to take our lines. It was great to be home.

The sun came out so it was on with the shorts and out with the bubbly, to celebrate our safe return. 2,341 nm this trip and 5,041 since we took delivery of the boat in September 2004. It has been an amazing summer. Lots of fun, entertaining, educational and sometimes testing. But overall a remarkable experience.

We plan to spend the weekend on the boat, enjoying Dartmouth and catching up with friends and family. Then back to the house on Sunday and a serious dose of reality>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
