30 miles to go to Port Resolution on the island of Tanna, Vanuatu.
Of the five of us who came across together we will be the last to arrive but
we are the slowest boat and we are only just behind some of the others.
Because we were a bit against the clock to arrive in daylight and a day
ahead of some strong winds we set a much faster pace than we usually go at
and while the wind was blowing we were doing around 150 miles per 24 hours
rather than our more usual 120. There has been no wind for 24 hours now
though so we are motoring which is noisy and not as much fun but at least
the sea is as flat as it can be and therefore very comfortable.
We are running our repaired Watermaker for the first time and even though it
was a temporary fix it is going better and more quietly than it has for
months so that takes the pressure off for finding water ashore to fill the
tanks.
We caught another fish last night using the now standard rig of venetian
blind cord and one of Travis's lures. A 9kg (20lb) Mahi Mahi which put up a
good fight. We had only had the line in the water for a couple of hours and
got the strike so we think we are really ace fisherman now. Before that the
fridge was full of food for the passage including some fantastic quality
meat from Fiji so there was no room for a fish.
All for now, all is well.
