We left San Jose after a quick shop and fuel top up and set off into much more promising conditions. Still lumpy but so different to yesterday. Marija and Sarah found the right spot on the foredeck to read in comfort....

The wind dropped more and more though so we were back to motoring and dodging ships, keeping a sharp lookout as the nautical phrase goes. |

The wind dropped completely overnight but it was pretty grey and cold. |

Then the dolphins came for a fleeting visit. One on either side at the bottom of the picture. |

As dawn broke on the 29th we should have been able to see Gib very clearly. Instead this is what we saw...... |

But then, very gradually, the Rock appeared out of the mist..... |

We motored past the rock and then turned right into the huge bay with yet more ships adrift either waiting to go into the docks or with smaller freighters alongside them unloading the cargo. |
This one caught our eye, a whole ship specially for the Airbus.
Plenty to look at,

Once past the ships and into the outer harbour we were flat enough to put the crew to work putting out the warps (ropes) and fenders. |
To the left of the rock is the airport runway that is the link to the Spanish border but more on that story later. |

In we go straight under the rock but then the airport loudhailer warned of an incoming flight at which point all yachts have to stop moving. Well as much as you can ever stop moving in a boat. Once the plane was down we could set off again. |

We berthed around 1500 and rapidly despatched Marija and Darren for a bit of sightseeing before they left the next day. Part of their exploration was finding a restaurant for dinner which they did with style and we all enjoyed a fabulous meal. In a very attractive setting. The perfect landfall. |
