Quick Update - 25 June 2011
41:55.90N 008:45.00E Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica We arrived in Corsica a few days ago and have been at anchor since. We have been getting the boat ready for the arrival of Will and Annie and family and thought we were completely under control until we were refused entry to both of the marinas here. With a gale threatening. Apparently both were full and we were asked to call back and call back again but still nothing. We could of course see all the spaces that were available through the binoculars. We anchored in the bay in what a fairly precarious position but the gale passed us by and we had a very peaceful night. Our shopping was facilitated by the fact that a huge CarreFour was only about 200 metres away from the boat but equally compromised by the fact that we had a stretch of lumpy water to cross in a dingy and then a railway line. The railway proved particularly entertaining with a fully laden trolley. More on this when there is time but for now we are getting everything ready for the arrival of the small people tomorrow. Bucket and spade, fishing net and hand lines and beach ball are at the ready. |
