Zoe and Jamie
39:52.5N 25:00.3E 19th – 26th June Zoe and Jamie joined us for a week. We first met Jamie
when Mike was working at Faro Sailing School and Jamie did a couple of courses
there. Since then Jamie has trekked with us in Tibet and sailed across the
Atlantic with Mike. Zoe had never sailed before. They flew to Limnos and followed instructions to take a taxi
to the harbour and look for the boat with Tibetan prayer flags on. As
soon as we put them up the couple on the boat next to us said how lovely they
looked and put theirs up! We were not expecting to see too many other
boats who knew what they were let alone had some with them but every few weeks
someone recognises what they are and that was the second boat we have come
across which has them on board. Needless to say, given that they knew the
name of the boat, it wasn’t too much of a challenge to identify which one
was us. All my pictures of the week seem to have been taken in bad
weather, indeed we hit a heavy squall at one point but only for half an hour or
so. Mostly there wasn’t enough wind to sail by so Jamie and
Zoe’s experience was a bit of exciting sailing and a lot of time
motoring. This squall passed us by but we kept a close eye on it while
it did so...... And once again, Zoe and Carol with rain jackets on. We had a fantastic week though and are delighted they are
coming back in September when, we hope, we will have some proper wind for some
proper sailing. |
