Quick Update 14 September 2011, Quinta do Lorde marina, Baia da Abra, Madeira

32:44.504N 016:42.748W Arrived at 1730 following a very wet and windy 7 hour crossing fro Porto Santo. Full waterproofs on, cold and miserable with a big sea round the headlands but fairly flat in between. Tedious more than anything else. The marina is a delight. Fantastic facilities and helpful staff so we are happy to be here for a couple of nights. Although the marina is finished, including restaurant, the ‘village’ behind is an abandoned building site which is rather sad because it was clearly going to be lovely. No doubt another casualty of the recession and Portugal’s current difficulties. A bottle of Veuve Cliquot was drunk to celebrate our wedding anniversary and two precious bars of Green and Blacks chocolate used to make chocolate pots for desert. Delicious on all counts. Hiring a car to day and off to explore. |
