As we disengaged from the tug for the last time after the third lock we were moving away quite nicely when Tashi Delek suddenly swerved and her bow swung round the front of the tug caught by the current or a back eddy. All six of us plus the guys on the tug were onto it and just pushed hard on the tug to try and keep off while Mike had to use the engine in reverse to try to get her to move which she did, eventually, very slowly. We slightly bent one stanchion and the holder for the life ring, both quickly fixed with the judicious application of a hammer. Not long before this the catamaran following us had hit the lock side very hard by the sound of it so we considered ourselves lucky. Oh, and an attentive, focussed and skilled crew of course. |
