Weather getting better and the sketchbook is out.

38:10.15N 26:30.55E From Samos we headed back to the Turkish coast and found
another pretty anchorage for a couple of days to enjoy the warmth. No wind and calm sea means a spot of housework while
underway. It also, when we are lucky, means dolphins. Glorious. Close enough to hear them blowing and watch
them below the water as well as above it. Always a real treat and always
very difficult to capture on a photograph. We saw from the 2009 log that we had had our first swim on
the 26th May last year so, come what may, we were determined to swim
no later than the same date this year. Warm sun doesn’t mean warm
water but we were very brave. Mike’s face indicates the temperature
and, yes, that really is the colour of the water. Following a game of ‘Can you guess what it is
yet’ with the grandchildren recently I realised that Mike was pretty good
at drawing. His sailing boat picture was particularly impressive giving a
sense of wind and movement that my two triangles on a stick version had failed
to convey. We had often thought about having a go at sketching so decided
we better get on with it. Quick visit to an art shop in Chester with Mum
and we have the basic pencils, crayons, sketch book, rubber required.
Quick visit to Amazon.co.uk and we have a couple of books on what to do. Time, of course, we have plenty of. Allegedly.
So here we are after two months and a sample of our combined efforts to
date........ The sketchbook is out and,
erm, that’s about it. |
