125 miles travelled.

We left in 30 knots of wind and a big horrible sea.  This is due to the effect of the various islands squeezing the wind and water so we knew it would settle a bit at least once we were in more open water.  It did, and is now the expected rolly sea.  We both need to get our sea legs back after nearly two months on land but 24 hours in and we seem to be settling in again.

The sun is shining – mostly, quite a lot of cloud around.  The wind is 15 – 20 knots which is ideal and we have set up both headsails, one either side held out by poles, to take us along nicely with the wind behind us.  We are averaging about 6 knots which is good progress.

The highlight of the day was checking into the long range radio network at 8am this morning and everyone could hear our call.  Phew.  The difficulties we had had being heard and all the static must indeed have been a feature of the marina where a lot of masts, radio and electronic equipment disrupts the signal.

All for now – back to cooking lunch.
