Still cold, and wet.
37:41.19N 25:57.06E 21st May and still cold. Every morning we
put our shorts on and apply sunscreen. Every morning we set off thinking
the warm weather has arrived. Every morning we dig out the fleeces and
some days we then add the jackets. We have gallons of drinking water on board to ensure we stay
well hydrated in the heat but so far we are consuming copious amounts of gas
boiling the kettle for hot drinks. We thought we may just be being a bit wet about things until
we saw this..... A local – in a down jacket!!! We headed for the town of Pithagorian on the island of Samos
where we will be picking up Andrew and Julia, Sarah and Emma. Inevitably,
as always seems to happen when you are about to manoeuvre into a tight spot in
a harbour the wind got up and the swell came in which makes berthing a bit of a
challenge but we did manage to tie up before the heavens opened and the
downpour started. The crew on yachts arriving after us were in full
oilies. Once the rain stopped we explored the town which is charming
so we decided to stay a couple of days to stock up and do some jobs. Oh,
and by chance it was the Champions League Final so Mike was able to watch
that. From the comfort of his own boat. Lots more to explore on Samos so we are pleased to be going
back when A,J,S & E arrive. We were particularly pleased to see that
it is a nuclear free zone. |
