We have a little blue arrow on the chart plotter that indicates the direction and strength of any current we pick up.  There were plenty of interesting currents on this trip and we could probably have made considerable progress sitting on a floating log because, for once, they were mostly in our favour. 

This indicator shows our speed through the water as 0.0.  ie the boat is moving at the same speed as the water…..

However our Speed over Ground (or SOG) was 4.7 knots…. And the blue arrow was quite fat.
