Quick Update - Thu 16th Sep

September We didn’t leave for
Bodrum as planned because the winds were on the rise again and there was a gale
warning. We did stick our nose out of the anchorage but as soon as we reached
the open sea it was so uncomfortable we decided to retreat. The boat can
cope with winds of way more than gale force but the winds cause the sea to get
increasingly unpleasant and we have a choice about whether to stay or go so we
stayed put. There is always plenty to do on the boat so we are never
idle. The worst that could happen was that our diet would get very dull
as we got down to rice, pasta and feta cheese again. However, the winds
settled again after a few days so we left yesterday, Wednesday, and had a
cracking sail mostly at 7 knots over to the island of Kalimnos. We
found ourselves in the main town which is noisy, bustling and quite large with
an excellent free wifi for the citizens so we have decided to stay an extra
night to re-provision and catch up on internet things. We will head for
Bodrum tomorrow. |
