YaaaaaaHoooooooo!

We did it, we arrived in the wee hours and anchored up. 3050 miles of ocean 18.5 days at sea and we make landfall on a tiny speck called Fatu Hiva, the entire island is just 8 milesx5miles.

Anchoring in our tired state was fun, no moon, cram packed anchorage, tired crew and 15-20 knots (where'd that suddenly come from?). Couple that with poor holding steeply shelving bottom and all the shallow spots gone, end result was 3 failed attempts, the third entagling on and tripping Elena's anchor. 5th time was successful when we managed to set in 35 metres of water. No damage done other than to Elena's first full night of sleep plan being destroyed. Beer fines aplenty!

This morning has seen at least 8 boats leave and we have now reset anchor in 6 metres sand. Locals came out this morning (speaking English) and we have arranged dinner ashore this evening at their home.

Ps happy birthday Vaughan.
