ASail and main up, sailing 6.5 in 10 to 12NNW, 270 to Opua
Well the temperature is dropping so we are pretty confident that we are going the right way. We are down to 22 degrees which has prompted me to put socks on, that last happened about 2 years ago. Temp in Opua is 13 this morning so I guess we will arrive dressed in full oilies and woolly hats.
We have about 10 more hours of light wind then a cold front followed by southerlies until we reach NZ. Wind dead on the nose will kill our progress so we are now expecting a Friday arrival, our speed depends largely upon how bad the sea gets. Another option is diversion to Whangarei or even Auckland if it kicks up too much.
Lost another lure today along with the remaining line on the big reel, user error. No spare line aboard so this may go down as our worst fishing trip yet. 3 days and no fish is totally unheard of these days.
