Great time at Hiva Oa, went for a tramp to a 200 foot waterfall and swam in the pool at the bottom, went spearfishing for kingfish but did not manage to get one, saw a few though and had a crack at one the first day. Also saw a manta ray mooching about but I didn't have the gun. We had dinner at one of the local houses and after they put on a show with the little girls dancing and the whole family singing.

We moved up today to tahuata, the next island north of Fatu Hiva. Good trip nice sail of 40 miles, caught a couple of nice yellowfin tuna, the bigger one 7-8 kilos. Caught out in some freak weather behind the island and had 38 knots apparent from behind, I recon 50 knots true. Anyway it was riveting!

Stopped off for a snorkel at hanatefau, then a few more miles up the coast to hanamoenoa. Immediately upon setting the anchor we were invited to a bonfire ashore after dinner, there are about a dozen boats here and a big sandy beach, no houses.
