Hello Friends                        "14:28.1N 60:52.1W"

Hello from Martinique ! We visited Saint Pierre on the NW coast of Martinique and enjoyed an excellent dinner in "Le Tamaya" one of the local restaurants named after the owners' yacht. Just to make you a little bit green, the set menu was only 14 Euros for 3 excellent courses!

St Pierre is probably the quietest part of Martinique and rather overshadowed by the volcanoes, which have had some effect on its history. In 1902 there was a catastrophic eruption and the resultant pyroclastic flow killed everyone in the town - almost 30,000 people - with the sole exception of Cyparis, a prisoner in a very solid dungeon. Here is the dungeon today: we guess the substantial barrel vaulted roof did the trick.

We are now in Marin, a huge sailing area and marina in the south of Martinique. We had a very vigorous beat up here on Monday - 2 reefs in the main and a heavily reefed genoa in nearly 30 knots apparent. But Blue Sky did well and we were making a good 7 knots most of the way.

Ian and Alan were up early this morning (Wednesday) to head off to the airport and back to Sussex via Barbados and Antigua. A very good time was had by all and we hope to see them on board in the future.

We are now catching up on chores and will sail to Rodney Bay, St Lucia in the next few days to meet Karla on Saturday and Andreas on Sunday.

Meanwhile we hope you all have your water wings back in the UK !

Best Wishes

George & Michael
