The wind built up steadily for 24 hours ahead of the cold front but in the event, as we braced in anticipation, it passed over us so quickly that we had to look at the barometer to see if high pressure had actually kicked in.   The front left a large confused sea and lots showers but this morning we have been able to set our sails to take us to Flores, the western of the Azores islands and are looking forward to making landfall in four or five days time.
