Our trip north was fast but mainly uneventful and as we became abeam of
Cozumel we decided to plough on towards Isla Mujeres.
There was a strong tail current and wind that were making the sea lumpy and
by midnight we were both getting tired of the heavy rolling. We turned in
towards the south west side of Isla Mujeres from the ocean only to find the
channel lights rather confusing (probably because we were so tired) and decided
to come in behind Punta Cancun........it was the right decision! By now it
was past midnight but we found our way to anchor just off the Hotel El
Presidente in perfectly calm waters. The next morning we made the short
trip across to Isla Mujeres and tonight, after a day with Immigration, Customs,
Health, Agriculture and the Port Captain were are anchored in the inner lagoon,
safely tucked in, in readiness for Wednesday’s forecasted strong west
winds. |
