After a quick sprint across the Gulf Stream and a fraught 18 hours motoring
blind in shallow waters during the night then thick fog the sun finally came out
and we found ourselves back in the blue waters of the Bahamas. The trip
was eventful in that a fuel line blockage killed the engine and 2 hours was
spent laying across a very hot engine in a rolling sea sucking diesel through
the pipes......needless to say Allan was sick......oh the joys of
cruising!
With a strong wind forecast for several days we’ve headed into Green Turtle
Cay in the Abacos and picked up a mooring.......within minutes we saw our first
turtle swim by! We cleared into the Bahamas at the island’s only town, New
Plymouth, a charming little spot with lots of history. We plan to hang out
here for a few days, perhaps weeks. There’s lots of jobs do be done on
board so we won’t be bored.
