Slowly heading north......

We left St Augustine on Tuesday morning and headed out 40NM to the NE to find the western wall of the Gulf Stream which turned out to be rather feeble and is only giving a small to lift to Moonstone’s speed over the ground.  The wind is also very light so altogether we are only achieving 3.5 knots.......very slow but at least the sun is shinning.

Northerly winds are forecast for Friday and as we don’t relish beating into them into what will probably be a choppy sea we will pop into one of the larger ports in South Carolina until the wind direction improves.

The coast guard are issuing strong wind and lightning warnings for the coast again this afternoon, hopefully we are far enough offshore to miss them.  Last night we had a spectacular show of lightning lasting several hours.
