The forecast looked good, easterly trade winds blowing 16 knots would provide the perfect ride down the Exuma Sound to Cat Island.......wrong, the wind was more south east and we were heading towards Georgetown on the Exhumas.   We’d been to Georgetown before and didn’t enjoy it ands promised ourselves never to return.
So we decide to tack upwind after all we’ve got all day but the wind built steadily and so did the sea and we spent 18 hours mainly overnight getting battered and bruised.........but we made it so by lunchtime we were anchored off Cat Island in warm Bahamian sunshine wondering what all the fuss was about.
