Today we rounded the notorious Cape Fear......fortunately the weather was near perfect so there was no need for us to be afraid!  We’ve also just met our insurers’ requirement to be north of 34 degrees and therefore clear of the hurricane belt by June 1st.

We have decided that we are going to enter the Intra Coastal Waterway (ICW), otherwise known as the ditch, at the Moorhead / Beaufort Inlet.   We should be there around dawn if this light breeze holds up.

Tomorrow we will start to motor our way up the ICW via the Dismal Swamp Canal onto the major port of Norfolk and then out into the Chesapeake.
