We left Staniel Cay just after dawn and once again crept slowly and carefully out of the shallow anchorage and headed out onto the Exuma Bank.  The first hour was quite tense, at one point we only had a foot of water under the keel.  We crossed the bank under engine as there was only 3 knots of wind.  The trip across the bank was nearly 40 NM and for the whole trip across we could see the bottom clearly.

After crossing the bank we turned north west into the Tongue of the Ocean, a desolate stretch of water rarely trafficked as it is reef or landlocked on three sides.   Tonight the breeze is building and I’m going to close this message here as it is time to put a reef in!
