Last time I was in Dominica was 4 decades ago. We were anchored in Prince Ruperts Bay for several weeks and all time the only boat.
One reason was of course less boats in general in those days but Dominica was then also considered dangerous. Gaining it´s independence 1978 the democracy was young and the nation politically unstable.
Today Dominica is thriving in the cruising community. We moved to Prince Ruperts Bay and was in company with 25-30 other boats anchored outside Portsmouth,it´s second city in size.
In Prince Ruperts Bay also PAYS has settled (Portsmouth Association of Yacht Security) and they organise moorings, dinghy dock and BBQ´s every Sunday and Wednesday.
We went to one of the BBQ´s and allthough the Caribbean is US backyard for sailors we also met some Europeans.
The day after I changed two consumed anodes from the aft part of the hull, and then we weighed anchor bound for Bequia (150Nm)
