I had to go to Scotland for work leaving Mercedes alone 5 days in Marina Karais in central Cagliari.
Mercedes liked Cagliari very much and upon my return from the Shetland Islands I also enjoyed a couple of days in Cagliari before departure.
The city is full of narrow streets, beautiful buildings, restaurants, bars and not least, history. Beside Valetta,Cagliari is now our favourite major city in the Mediterranean.
On the top of the hill of the city are plenty of museums and one pride is the tablet of stone with Phoenician text (the Nora stone).
Aperol seems to be the "national drink" since almost all bars are loaded with people charged with an aperol in the evenings.
Upon entering Cagliari from the sea I was surprised to see several flamingos fly over Dora Mac. Obviously there are several colonies of flamingo on Sardinia, one of them by Poetto Beach just outside Cagliari.
