Discussing where to make landfall in France after passage of the Dover Strait I told Mercedes that Normandie has nothing to offer but large ugly ports like Boulogne,Dieppe or Le Havre. Brittany is veru much preferred by most cruisers.
A Facebookfriend of Mercedes though told us we have to go to Honfleur,a medeival village just in the entrance of river Seine and with a much appreciated old harbour in the centre of the village. Landfall here can be challengeing due to strong tide with currents running up to 5-6kts in springtide but being in neaptide we decided to head for Honfleur.
Passing Dover Strait in the inshore trafficzone we had no issues with traffic but French coastguard was at the border keeping an eye on the traffic.
On VHF though we overheard the communication after a DSC alarm and apparently a small boat with refugees were missing somewhere in the Dover Strait.
All boats were asked to keep a sharp lookout but the area of focus was at least 15Nm away from Dora Mac.
