I met Markus Selin first time in Lisbon October 1980 both on different boats heading for the Carribean. We have been friends ever since. He appears on this blog before  among others sailing Dora Mac in Greece 2016.

On Markus mother´s side the family is American and he now came with his wife Sofia (whom I have known for 30 years) and one of their sons with girlfriend, for a family wedding. The wedding was going to take place on Kent Island on the eastern side of Chesapeak Bay quite close to Annapolis. We spent an evening onboard Dora Mac for a drink followed by dinner on Joe´s Coconut Bar and Grill by the marina. Falcon Riley also joined us (Falcon is an old sailing friend of Mercedes. They met in New Zealand when Falcon was with his parents on a circumnavigation). Just before leaving the boat for dinner there was heavy smoke with the smell of "electrical burn" from the saloon and my verdict was burned capacitor on the fanmotor of the aircon. Aircon was switched off and we headed for dinner. Joe´s coconut was crowded with people since they had a dancing evening with line dancing something also young people enjoy here. We tried it out but for me it was far to complicated. It was a great joy though to see so much people of all ages on the dancing floor.

Coming back to the boat there was still strong smell of smoke and I needed to sleep with all windows open.
