Mercedes family needed help at home so we headed north staying only one night anchored by the beach in Finisterre and one night moored in Camarinas.
Being under way along Costa da Morte we were happy for settled weather and only moderate seaway. Passing Malpica we were reminded of last weeks gale when a sailingboat went down trying to make landfall in the port of Malpica. Allthough assisted by sea rescue one crew didn`t make it.
Along the way of this coast you pass many mythological lighthouses where the Hercules Tower marking La Coruna is the most famous.
Being built by the Romans during the first century (Phoenician design and a copy of the lighthouse of Alexandria) it`s the oldest working lighthouse in the world.
According to one myth it was here that Hercules finally killed his enemy Geryon and the lighthouse was built on top of the grave .
Passing La Coruna in flat calm waters we made landfall in Ria Ares at 03.30 in the morning.
