While the gale was howling offshore we spent some days on bicycles

We found Beaufort SC a beautiful city with an exciting history (captured by the Union Army in the civil war). Houses are beautiful and people nice.

Many of the houses are situated just by the sea and through history the sea has been their provider of food.

In the rivers are loads of blue crabs and shrimps and crab cake made from blue crabs is one speciality. For the first time since the onset of this whole journey we were also able to stock up some boat necessities from West Marine located in the village.

Trees in South Carolina carry “Spanish beard” . Nicknamed from the beard of Spanish soldiers South Carolina has a history closely linked to the Spanish in the early days.

The Spanish empire included Florida and Georgia on the border to South Carolina subsequently resulting in lot’s of conflicts today in the history books.
