We made landfall in Kalamata earlier than expected and after a Mediterranean mooring we walked up in town with a dog happy to be ashore again.
Being the former main port of Peloponessos Kalamata today is mainly famous for it´s black olives. It´s not a pittoresque city but the atmosphere is nice and genuine.
Allthough tired from more than two days at sea,we couldn´t resist to sit down in a taverna full of Greek people having dinner.
It never stops being of great amusement to make landfall in a new country, order their beer, typical food and feel the atmosphere.
The taverna was an ordinary greek familyplace but with good service and full of happy people.
Local beer, fresh bread , tzatziki and calamares-what else can you ask for ?
Mercedes is heading to Galicia in a couple of days and I will fly to Copenhagen.
Dora Mac will rest in Kalamata some weeks under surveillance from Kostas Paschalis from Kalamata Marina.
