The coolant system is basically a closed freshwater coolant system based on a keel cooler. The exhaust is wet exhaust though (on the contrary to Nordhavns who have a dry exhaust with it´s pros and cons) so the seawater pump on John Deere serves only to cool the exhaust.
All coolant hoses were now replaced. The ones on the picture are originals and have been serving 11 years without problems. What we did find though were several small leaks on the stainless coolant elbow seen on the picture. The leaks were enclosed by the hose for the time being but would have eaten their way out if not detected.
The elbow was taken to a welding shop and new stainless ends welded on to it before being installed back again. Finding these "hidden bombs" is one major reason for service jobs and hopefully a way to avoid serious symtoms during for example an ocean crossing.
