Major work this time
On the “To do list” for this time we had some major issues.
The low pressure pump for the Village Marine Watermaker needed to be replaced (a new pump imported from the US to Sweden brought to DR), two leaking non hydro tested dive tanks needed to be replaced and preferably good used ones purchased, our paddle boards (who both exploded on our last tour) needed to be replaced,grinding/priming/painting rust as always, bunker supplies for 6 weeks (Turks&Caicos as well as Bahamas very expensive),bottom cleaned by diving and some anodes replaced, our Victron Multi inverter/charger programmed over a Victron MK-3 interface to handle our Nardi electric dive compressor on our N.Lights 9,5KvA generator and then of course loads of usual minor stuff.
We always start our prepairs by enlarging our surrounding infrastructure by renting a car. Day three we drove to Las Terrenas an hour drive from Samana.
In Las Terrenas we found the only descent plumber in the area supplying us with proper connections to the new watermaker pump, picked up two second hand hydro tested dive tanks purchased from Jaan Julius, a German running the only dive shop in the area, and spent hours in a reasonably well sorted supermarket for bunker.
Once back on the boat we spent some more hours carrying goods, packing and Mercedes vacuum packing/freezing food.
Driving in Dominican Republic is dangerous and deserves it´s own post.
