Our old accumulator tank was leaking from  a welding joint due to corrosion. Wanting our hot water back it was time to install a new one (SeaFlo 2 gallons).

When tightening the adapters for the water piping I slipped with the wrench and hit my head on the steel handle of the oil polish filter for the genset-. It ripped up a 2cm long and 1/2cm deep wound in the scalp of the forehead. Since the scalp is well vascularised these wounds have a tendency to bleed a lot and subsequently needed to be stitched.

I tried to suture in the mirror but making all movements twisted it was much more difficult than anticipated. Mercedes offered to have a try but before going into action she trained on a lime fruit.. After three “training stitches” she applied a suture that aligned the wound edges well and gave good hemostasis.

Any citrus fruit can be used for training on suturing. You cut out a slice of the fruit creating an artificial wound and start training.
