Planning to be in Galicia in August it was time to weigh anchor and head back to Leros where we again had a place reserved in Leros Marina (allthough expensive still the only reasonably priced marina in the whole region).
I lost my hearing without any pain when freediving on the anchor so I was anxious to get my hearing back and headed for Leros Hospital in Lakki.
It is a beautiful hospital serving the whole region also with emergency surgery.
A nurse immidiately came to take a short inteview about my problems and within 15 minutes I was with the otorhinolaryngologist of the hospital.
She found my right ear occluded by wax and with water trapped behind. It took her 5mins with meticulous suction to free the whole membrana tympanica from debris and I was hearing again.
The whole visit took less than 30mins and for citizens of the EU completely free. The whole organisation of emergency visits seemed totally free of bureaucracy making it well worth a visit for Scandinavian hospital bureaucrats to see and learn.
In general the "disclaimer society" seems to be very much absent still in Greece which is probably one part of a smooth organisation at the hospitals.
