Annapolis
Randal and Ruth came to visit us during the weekend and the first evening we had dinner onboard Dora Mac and then spent two days in Annapolis.
The second day we made a guided historical tour and most impressive was the Maryland State House with beautiful localities both for congress and senate.
Here’s also one of the original copies from the Treaty of Paris kept. The treaty of Paris was signed in Paris 1783 and is a proclamation of independence from Great Britain.
Although not having his permant home here, George Washington spent lot of time in Annapolis which was also the capital of USA some year after the revolutionary war 1776.
One of Washington’s favourite pubs is still serving beer and food and houses in downtown Annapolis are beautiful. By some called the sailing capital of the USA there are loads of anchorages, marinas and nice restaurants by the seaside. In October are the boat shows for sailing and powerboats which are some of the biggest in the country.
We also tried to visit the Naval Academy, training naval officers for the US navy since 1845,but due to the Iran war foreign visitors were not allowed to enter.
Dora Mac will be moored in Annapolis until mid September when we will be back for another session heading north
