It seems obvious that the Hellenic Coastguard can hold your boat custody for almost any reason.

That leeds to the obvious conclusion that the Hellenic Coastguard is to be avoided except in lifethreatening situations.

The next question is why this behaviour ?

There´s no logical explanation to this but when big organisations are characterised by odd behaviour one important source to look for is if there´s money behind.

Our surveyor (who explicitely told us we could use his name if we wanted) insinuated that there´s money in several links rewarding this system of holding yachts in custody.

We have not been able to dig deeper into this but all statements in cyberspace related to this is enough for us to issue a warning for the Hellenic Coastguard-AVOID !
