There's some good news and bad news. The good news is that we are averaging about 6.5 knots at the moment, but the bad news is that we are pointing towards the Outer Hebrides. Mat sent me a weather synopsis and it said that easterly winds are set to dominate for the week. This is a bit unusual, as we would expect wind from the west to allow us to have a comfortable broad reach back home, but it is not to be.
We will have to wait and see what next week brings weather-wise.
One issue that needs some consideration on a trip like this is waste.  I think the starting point should be that nothing is tipped into the ocean that doesn't belong there but then you have the issue of rotting vegetable and fruit matter and the such like on the boat. So to make a compromise, on this leg, I have a rubbish bag for plastics and a rubbish bag for glass, to be recycled on land. Everything else goes into another bag to go to land-fill .
Peelings, tea and coffee bags, and kitchen paper-roll are put in the ocean as they will degrade in the water and sunlight. After all, it's in our interests to look after the place where we go to enjoy ourselves and relax.
Cress update: nothing happened!
