We have a change of plan. Given that the weather has
sent us west and that we have a much reduced mainsail to work with, we are going
to call in at Recife, Brazil. My concern is the extra distance the westerly
aspect will cause as well as the reduced speed due to the mainsail
which means we could be at sea for much longer than we had planned, putting
pressure on food, water and our gas cylinders. Also, we have a leak in the sail
store that is causing a steady flow of water through the boat and into the
bilge, which is annoying.
We expect to be there in a week's time. The good news is
we can now help ourselves to the water, food and gas we have
onboard.
