Saturday 23rd April – Messolonghi

After the arrival of the bread man and breakfast in the cockpit, we cycled into town to the chandlery and bought some new flares as the old ones are now out of date (ouch, they are expensive for something that you hope never to need to use).

Returning to the marina, after collecting a few other supplies, we found a small crowd outside the marina office and a lady from the tourist office handing out some typical Greek Easter gifts on behalf of the town –eggs (hard boiled) with their shells stained bright red and some special Easter biscuits.  Naturally we took some to try J

This afternoon we have carried on with jobs aboard whilst also trying to make the most of the fair weather.  Richard cleaned and vacuumed the bilges so we could stow the various supplies which had been lurking in the back cabin, and then went and vacuumed off all the cat hairs from the old sprayhood and cockpit enclosure.

I also pottered down below, preparing dinner for us and for Russell for this evening.  I made a Moroccan Fish Tagine (recipe courtesy of Claire who served this up to us just before we came back to Greece – a perfect dish for cooking on a boat) which went down well.  Naturally it was a card night - we had a hand of cribbage whilst the dinner baked in the oven and, after dinner, a round of gin rummy with a tot of ouzo.
