Les Sables d'Olonne

We’ve had a good day here. This morning we took a walk around some of the large racing yachts they have here, very impressive they are. There were also a few of the smaller Figaro single-handed race yachts on the pontoon – would not have wanted to have been out on them in the conditions they faced !
We went to a lovely restaurant nearby for lunch, which was very good except for me getting attacked by a flying container they had put on the roof awning to stop it flapping in the high winds – I now have a bump on my head (at no extra charge). The owner offered us coffee and dessert but neither of us were bothered; he was probably relieved at how little fuss we made.
We then went to stock up at the local supermarket – the trolley is doing very well.
This afternoon, I did finish my book and Richard spent an hour or so strolling around the chandleries – he even found the piece he needs to finish off the water maker installation, having looked in every chandlery between Southampton and here.
Tonight we took a pleasant walk into town, taking the ‘taxi-cat’ across the river to walk along the main side of town; it was a beautiful balmy evening.
