Monday 25th May – Mgarr, Gozo (Blue Lagoon)

Today has been very hot with light winds.

This morning I caught up with the washing and Richard has dealt with various maintenance items about the boat such as checking the oil and water on the engine, refilling the water tanks from the tap and refilling the fuel tank from our jerry cans.

This afternoon Richard blew up the dinghy so that we could go for a run across to Comino, the small island between Gozo and Malta.

Just as we were about to set off I was asked by the marinaro if I would do a short interview for Malta radio about the marina and its facilities; the guys from the radio station asked me a couple of questions and I said nice things about the marina and we were on our way.

We took the dinghy to the Blue Lagoon, a popular anchorage and tourist spot between Comino and the uninhabited islet of Cominotto.  It is noted for its white sand seabed and clear turquoise waters.  When we arrived it was crowded with tourists and tourist boats.  We docked the dinghy and went for a short walk.  When we were ready to leave, the tourists boats were gathering their passengers and leaving too and so I guess that it would be a nice anchorage for the night but a bit hectic during the day.

Tonight we invited Charlie and Anna from Star Dance over for drinks and it turned into a late one, chatting and drinking into the wee hours.

Comino:  Blue Lagoon

Gozo:  Playing boats
