Saturday 28th July – Fowey

This morning the weather was fine and so we did a few boat related jobs and then inflated the dinghy ready for an excursion ashore.

So, after lunch, the crews of Pyxis and Sea Dream took the dinghies ashore and looked around Fowey.  We checked out some of the local shops – Richard now has a Cornish pasty from Cornwall.

Having reached as far as the yacht club we stopped for a drink. It has a great view over the harbour entrance and we watched the afternoon dinghy racing – some of the tacking through the boats moored by the club was very closely called !

On the way back we did a bit more provisioning – and the rain arrived. Just as we got back to the dinghy pontoon to come back to the boats, the heavens opened wide – we were all drenched by the time we got back to the boats.

We had an excellent dinner on board with our friends until late in the evening.

During the evening festivities, the weather struggled to decide how hard to continue raining and eventually settled on light drizzle with a side order of howling wind – plus an increasing amount of swell.   The swell is now quite pronounced, so tonight will not be as peaceful as last night.  Ah well, shouldn’t complain, the weather forecasters did predict it (W à SW 3-4 becoming cyclonic 5-7) – why are they never wrong when you want them to be.
