Cagliari (Back to Pyxis)

Saturday 31st January – Cagliari (Back to Pyxis) 39:12.064N 9:07.510E
Today we returned to Sardinia after our trip home.
We did quite a bit of travelling whilst in the UK, visiting friends and relatives we hadn’t seen for a while. We managed to get to the last day of the boat show at ExCel, taking the train up into London so we could remind ourselves what commuting was like and why we had gone sailing. We celebrated the Chinese New Year at the P’s local Chinese restaurant with an excellent dinner and then also celebrated my birthday at home with the P’s.
Arriving at Luton we walked into Departures to find massive queues at the check-ins, several flights were going out at around the same time. Oh no, we thought. We needn’t have worried though, within minutes several more check-ins were opened and the queues promptly vanished, excellent.
Our flight was on time and we landed early at Cagliari. We arrived after dark and were very grateful to David and Sarah for coming to pick us up from the airport; it was fantastic to have a lift back as we had two very heavy bags with us having stocked up whilst in the UK.
Pyxis was just where we had left her and had managed to survive the strong winds which had come through earlier in the week. Our first challenge was getting back aboard having dismantled the passerelle. Fortunately it proved quite straightforward to get it rigged up again and we soon had everything on board.
After a bit of unpacking we all went to the boat restaurant at the edge of the marina for pizza and then back to Pyxis for a drink; we were well back into the swing of things and sat up late catching up on what has been happening whilst we were away.
