Tuesday 18th May – Methana

We had a lazy morning with breakfast in the cockpit with the guide books.  We discovered the fridge control had been knocked yesterday and so the fridge had decided to defrost itself, a job we had been meaning to do, so I spent the rest of the morning wiping it out and preparing the calamari I had been keeping in the freezer compartment – looks like it’s calamari tonight, and tomorrow...

Late morning three large charter boats came in and caused some consternation with their efforts to park in the freshening breeze which had most of the skippers on the nearby boats up on deck watching.  Once satisfied we were out of harms way, Richard went off in search of a bakery.

Today there is quite a lot of dark cloud, and this afternoon the expected NW wind has been picking up.  It is feeling decidedly cold – when we went for a walk this afternoon, it was out with long trousers and fleeces for the first time in ages.  After a walk to the pretty little church at the entrance to the harbour, I decided to go back to the boat to warm up whilst Richard went off exploring further.

This afternoon, some workmen have been busy painting the walls of the buildings in the sulphur baths opposite; they must be getting it ready for the season.

This evening we are looking forward to calamari J
