Monday 14^th September – Messolonghi (Mesolóngion)

Last night the rain was heavy and on and off all night; it kept waking us up each time it started pouring down onto the deck, giving us a second fitful night’s sleep.  This morning, although heavily overcast, all was calm and dry, so we wandered into town to catch up on some shopping before the forecast afternoon of wind and rain arrived.

However, as things turned out, we were surprised that the afternoon, although cloudy and feeling muggy, didn’t deliver the promised rain or wind at all although there was this dark, eerie ‘calm before the storm’ feeling. The guys in the marina took advantage of the quiet weather and were able to lift 3 boats out into cradles on the hard.

This evening the wind has stayed away and we have had only light showers so we are hopeful for a good night’s sleep.  However, we can see lightning in the sky in the distance…
